The 成人抖阴 (LSC) announced today that it is awarding 33 Technology Initiative Grants (TIG) totaling $5.1 million. The TIG program supports civil legal aid organizations in leveraging technology to deliver high-quality legal assistance to low-income Americans.鈥疶his year, 29 organizations are receiving TIG funding.聽

Experts discuss how legal services contribute to veteran suicide prevention on the latest episode of LSC's 鈥淭alk Justice鈥 podcast, released today. LSC Vice President of Legal Affairs, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary Will Gunn hosts the conversation. Gunn, who is a former general counsel for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and a retired Air Force colonel, is joined by guests Jeff Staton, managing attorney at Legal Aid Society in Kentucky, and Dr. Eric Elbogen, director of the National Veterans Financial Resource Center (FINVET) at the Department of Veterans Affairs and professor of psychiatry at Duke University.

Research indicates that social factors contribute to veterans鈥 suicide risk. LSC recently released its annual publication 鈥淏y the Numbers: The Data Underlying Legal Aid Programs,鈥濃痺hich鈥痯rovides national and state-level trend data. The report shows a 9% increase in cases involving domestic violence between 2021 and 2022. This continues a concerning trend of increasing domestic violence cases over the past decade.
