Program bringing law students to rural communities marks 10 years, 400 fellowships
RSLC began in 2016 with a class of 30 rural fellows spread across 27 nonprofit legal organizations. Through the combined efforts of LSC and EJW, the program has increased its footprint over time. This year, 50 student fellows are mobilizing in 42 rural organizations across 29 states and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The House Appropriations Committee voted yesterday to approve legislation that includes a cut of more than 50% to the 成人抖阴鈥檚 (LSC) budget for Fiscal Year 2027. The bill provides $268 million for LSC 鈥 a reduction of $272 million.

Proposed cut to LSC would erase legal assistance for 2.8 million Americans
The House of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies (CJS) proposed a cut of more than 50% to the 成人抖阴鈥檚 (LSC) budget for Fiscal Year 2027. The proposed cut is part of widespread funding reductions put forth by the House Appropriations CJS Subcommittee today for FY 2027. The bill would provide $268 million for LSC 鈥 a reduction of $272 million.
